Bay Chamber Concerts continues its 56th Summer Concert Series with a Follies and Fantasies program Thursday, July 28, at 7:30 p.m. at the Rockport Opera House, 6 Central St.

The evening will include a vigorous mix of repertoire in a program for strings, piano and oboe. To play it, Bay Chamber welcomes a truly stellar line up of musicians including charismatic cellist Joshua Roman, double bass wizard Brian Ellingsen, rising young violist Danny Kim, Russian pianist Ilya Poletaev (recognized as one of today’s most original and compelling artists); and returning favorites, oboist James Austin Smith and violinists Livia Sohn and Geoff Nuttall.

Tickets for Follies and Fantasies are $45, $10 for those younger than 25. Sponsors for this concert are John Morris Architects and Landvest.

On Friday, July 29, at 8:30 p.m. at the nearby Union Hall, Bay Chamber Concerts presents a reprisal of the last evening’s remarkable performers in one of the most popular summer performances each year. The 2016 Candlelit Baroque Concert features an exceptional ensemble of acclaimed musicians playing sumptuous baroque repertoire including J.S. Bach’s Oboe D’Amore Concerto in A Major and Telemann’s captivating Suite for 2 Violins “Gulliver’s Travels,” with its charming “Chaconne of the Lilliputians.”

Tickets for Café Nights at Union Hall are $35, $10 for those younger than 25.
