Ashwood Waldorf School will be offering an expanded schedule of Parent-Child classes this year, led by master teacher Marianne Böckli.

Traditional classes will be held on Monday mornings, from 9 to 11 a.m. New this year will be a single, five-week fall session on Wednesdays, "Children in the Forest."

Parent-Child classes are a gentle and nurturing program for children ages 18 months to three years with a caregiver. While children engage in creative play with simple, natural toys, adults may work on a craft project provided by the teacher, help with snack preparation, or discuss parenting and child development. A walk through the woods on one of Ashwood's trails, time on the playground to climb and swing, and a goodbye song complete the morning.

"Children in the Forest" will feature similar activities, and the classes will be held outdoors, rain or shine.

Ashwood's Parent-Child program nurtures the whole family (moms, dads, babies, toddlers, and grandparents are all welcome) and provides a bridge from home to school. When ready, young children may transition to Ashwood's mixed-age early childhood classroom.

Dates this year are: Mondays, from 9 to 11 a.m. with different sessions from Sept. 12 to Oct. 17; Oct. 24 to Nov. 21; Jan. 9 to Feb. 13; March 20 to April 24; May 1-June 6 and Wednesdays, from 1:15 to 3:15 p.m., Sept. 21 to Oct. 19.

Early registration is recommended; space is limited and classes fill quickly. To find out costs and/or to register, contact: Judith Soleil at 236-8021 ext. 105 or go to
