The Friends of the Thomaston Public Library’s Friday Night Film Series for July has had the theme of Vive La France! The free weekly movie screenings take place Fridays at 7 p.m. in the Thomaston Academy building, 60 Main St./Route 1.

This month’s series concludes July 29 with “My Best Friend,” a PG-13 film from 2006 that runs 94 minutes. Antique dealer Catherine (Julie Gayet) refuses to believe that her business partner, the truly unlikeable François (Daniel Auteuil), has a best friend; so she challenges him to set up an introduction within 10 days. Scrambling to find someone willing to pose as his best pal, François enlists the services of an unwitting, charming taxi driver (Dany Boon) to play the part.

Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted; light refreshments will be served. The Thomaston Academy building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance. For more information, call the library at 354-2453. August’s films are from Asia.
