The Art Loft, 385 Main St./Suite 9, will host another Meet the Artist event Thursday evening, July 28. The public is invited to meet Tony van Hasselt AWS, an energetic and inspirational pioneer in the field of plein air painting workshops and longtime instructor for Coastal Maine Art Workshops.

The demo will start around 5:30 p.m. and the evening will end with one lucky door prize winner going home with an original piece of van Hasselt’s work; all attendees will be automatically entered into the drawing. Suggested donation ranges from $15 to $20 and space is limited, so come early.

One of the master painters in the field, van Hasselt has a Building Blocks approach to creating strong paintings that has opened doors for thousands of students. He will do a painting and talk about his many tricks of the trade, sharing pizza, wine and conversation with while attendees afterward.

Proceeds from the Pizza & Painters event will go toward purchasing art supplies for future classes at The Art Loft, a nonprofit community art center located inside the lobby of the Thorndike Building.
