Auditions for Theater at Monmouth’s Shakespeare in Maine Communities Tour of “The Tempest” will be held Saturday, July 30, at 10 a.m. at Helen Melledy Hall, 775 Main St.

The production will be performed with a cast of eight actors. All roles (except Miranda) are available and current doubling tracks are: Prospero/a; Ariel/Ship Captain; Ferdinand/Trinculo; Caliban/Sebastian/Boatswain; Alonso; Antonio/a; and Gonzalo/Stephano.

Interested non-Equity actors are invited to schedule an audition for the tour, which will be directed by Dawn McAndrews. The five-week contract begins rehearsals on Sept. 25; the production tours to schools and venues throughout the state runs Oct. 10 through 29.

Since 2005, TAM has taken the Bard on the road through Shakespeare in Maine Communities’ tours in 60- to 90-minute versions of Shakespeare with five to eight actors. Plays are fully designed, rehearsed and tour to schools and community centers. The target grade levels are middle and high schools. This year’s tour is made possible in part by a Shakespeare in American Communities grant from the National Endowment of the Arts.

To schedule an audition, call 933-9999 or email boxoffice@theateratmonmouth.org. Auditioners should prepare a two-minute monologue from the play; sides will be sent once appointment is scheduled. For more information, visit theateratmonmouth.org.
