The weekly Monday night blues series will host a special double-artist show Aug. 1 at the downtown Time Out Pub, 275 Main St. Tas Cru and Victor Wainwright will perform the show, which will begin an hour earlier, at 6 p.m., and run to 10 p.m. Admission is $20 at the door.

Cru's songs and testify to his reputation as a one of the most distinctive of bluesmen plying the trade today. His songs have been called blues poetry, and they are performed with power and passion. Last year’s “You Keep the Money” was among the hottest blues album of the year, keeping Cru and his Band of Tortured Souls busy both on the road and in the studio; “Simmered & Stirred” is due out this summer.

Already out this year is a second album of blues for kids, one of the reasons Cru was given the Blues Foundation's Keeping the Blues Alive Award in 2014.

And speaking of BMAs, Victor “The Piana From Savannah” Wainwright is a two-time winner, four-time nominee Pinetop Perkins Piano Player; this year, he also was up for B.B. King Entertainer and Band of the year with the Wildroots, so Rockland will be hoppin’ with big-time boogie-woogie blues. The composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist works with a powerhouse combo of hot, young talent to pay homage to the early greats and move forward via progressive roots music.
