The Rockland Fire Department welcomed Bill Pendleton to the team July 20.

Pendleton was sworn in as the department's new full-time paramedic by City Clerk Stuart Sylvester.

Pendleton moved to the area from Virginia a few years ago and has family on Islesboro. He has served for more than a year on the department's On Call Division as an on-call volunteer.

He has experience as a paramedic and training in firefighting.

"He's a good fit for the fire department and a smart guy," said Fire Chief Chris Whytock.
