St. George Historical Society will sponsor a tour of three churches in the lower part of town, the Port Clyde Christian Church, formerly the Advent Church; the Port Clyde Baptist Church; and the Second Baptist Church at the Ridge. Participants will gather at the Town Office parking lot July 28 at 6:30 p.m. There will be no meeting or potluck supper.

Jim Barstow has offered transportation in his shuttle bus to reduce traffic in Port Clyde village.

In August the society plans to visit the Tenants Harbor Baptist Church, the Long Cove Episcopal Chapel, the First Baptist Church, the former Clarks Island Church and the Spruce Head Church.

Few people have been in all of St. George’s churches. This is an opportunity to observe the various buildings that express the architectural style of the time they were built and the prosperity in the village at that era. Brief histories of the buildings and the religious organizations will be given at each stop.

There is no charge, but donations will be gratefully accepted.
