The annual memorial service to honor the life of Revolutionary War hero Maj. Gen. Henry Knox will be July 23 at 10:30 a.m. Not only will partiipants be able to help celebrate the life of this important patriot and one of the founders of our country, they will also see the restoration work that has been done on the grav site.

While the two years of research, planning and fundraising was led by the Thomaston Historical Society, this has been truly a cross-organizational effort.

Those attending may view a story board of the evolution of the fence and renovation and the old fence artifacts found during the excavation for the new iron fence footings and will see the new signs starting on Elm St to lead visitors to the gravesite. The service will open with a Revolutionary War solider honor guard and close with a rendition of "Taps."
