Local craftsman and designer Isabella Pierson will be at The Apprenticeshop, 655 Main St., July 25 to 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a week-long girls-only skills and maker workshop.

In this class, girls ages 10 to 13 will be empowered to imagine and build with Pierson, Apprenticeshop graduate and designer and builder with IZP in Rockland. Each participant will learn to measure, mark, cut and assemble through a series of handsĀ-on exercises. Jigsaws, hand saws, cordless drills and hammers are just a few of the tools that students will learn to use.

Participants will build their own keepsake box to store special things or secret treasures. Once the boxes are complete, they will walk next door to The Steel House to work with local artist Alexis Iammarino. There they will draw, paint and design the surfaces of their creations.

The Shop will provide all materials, safety glasses, dust masks, hearing protection and art supplies. Class size is limited; interested participants are encouraged to register early. Scholarships are available. For more information, call 594-1800 or visit online at apprenticeshop.org.
