The Keag River Gallery, 25 Dublin Road, will host a two-woman show Saturday through Friday, July 16 through 22. The public is invited to an opening reception Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Ann O’Hara, a pastel artist from South Thomaston, has created “September on the Weskeag” a series of paintings representing views of the Weskeag River from each of the 26 water properties on the local Hayden Point Road. This retrospective show came to be because, as she said, “Every time I look out the window, I see a different view. I thought each of my neighbors probably had a similar experience.” Each image represents a unique moment during the month of September 2015. She also will show other Midcoast Maine-inspired pastels.

Doreen Dufour, an artist from Rockport, will show “Expressions of Maine” — people, places and things in oil and watercolor. Dufour always had an affinity to drawing and painting, but did not pursue that interest until the last of her three sons graduated from Camden Hills Regional High School. In 2007, she began drawing and watercolor classes with local artist Nancy Glassman, eventually transitioning to oil portraiture through classes and an apprenticeship with Ronald Frontin.

Dufour’s art education has expanded by attending several workshops at Studio Incaminnati in Philadelphia, founded by the late Nelson Shank. She also attended a workshop instructed by Lea Colie Wight, sponsored by the Studio, in Haines, Alaska. She has also been commissioned several times for local families and accepts commission work as well.

“Having a non-traditional art education experience allows me to more freely pursue the vision I have for a composition,” she said. “While my focus is on oil portraiture, I can pick up my watercolors, pencil or silverpoint to quickly capture that moment in time.”

Entertainment during the reception will be provided by Kat Logan, fellow artist and musician. Show hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. For more information, call 594-1910 or email ann@oharapastels.com.
