Mel Stabin, an internationally known instructor and member of both the American and National watercolor societies, will be offer a Pizza & Painters demo and lecture in a meet-the-artist event Thursday, July 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Art Loft, 385 Main St. Suite 9.

Stabin is a plein air watercolor master and one of the regular instructors at Coastal Maine Art Workshops. There will be a chance to mingle, munch on pizza and sip some wine before watching him do a short demo and lecture on his work. He will create a painting live during the presentation and explain how he creates the lovely wet, loose landscapes for which he is so well known.

The demo will start around 5:30 p.m. and the evening will end with one lucky door prize winner going home with an original piece of Stabin’s work; all attendees will be automatically entered into the drawing. Suggested donation ranges from $15 to $20 and space is limited, so come early.

The Art Loft is a nonprofit community art center located inside the lobby of the Thorndike Building. For more information, visit; or call Lyn Donavan of Coastal Maine Art Workshops at 594-4813.
