The Friends of the Thomaston Public Library’s Friday Night Film Series for July has the theme of Vive La France! The free weekly movie screenings take place Fridays at 7 p.m. in the Thomaston Academy building, 60 Main St./Route 1.

The series continues July 15 with “The Artist and the Model” (2012, Spain/France). In 1943, disillusioned by the horrors of two world wars, sculptor Marc Cros (Jean Rochefort) gives up his art to live quietly in occupied France. When his wife (Claudia Cardinale) brings home a young Spanish refugee, her beauty inspires the 80-year-old man to return to work.

Upcoming are: July 22, “Triple Agent” (2004, France/Italy/Spain/Greece/Russia); and July 29, “My Best Friend” (2006, France). Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted; light refreshments will be served. The Thomaston Academy building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
