Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine’s Bowl For Kids’ Sake event concluded on May 21, raising more than $285,000 to support the agency’s programs.

The event was held in Penobscot County from March 31-April 7; in the Midcoast from April 8-15; in Kennebec Valley from May 2-7; and in Central Maine from April 29-May 21 and drew more than 545 teams and 2,100 bowlers. The event was sponsored by Camden National Bank and Hannaford.

Camden National Bank had 44 teams from locations throughout the Midcoast, the greater Bangor area, Augusta, Waterville and Lewiston/Auburn participate in the event.

Hannaford, the event’s other lead sponsor, had the most participating teams of any business, with a total of 102 teams from 31 store locations, from Damariscotta to Farmington.

The monies raised by the event will benefit the Big/Little matches in Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Penobscot, Somerset, Waldo, and Androscoggin counties.

“This event is such a critical fundraiser for our agency,” said CEO Alex Gaeth. “Monies raised from these regional bowling events help support our Big/Little matches and change kids lives for the better, forever. We are so grateful for the businesses that put teams together and come out and bowl with us every year. We hope they have as much fun at these events as we do.”

The four Grand Prize Winners were: Penobscot County – Kurt Schaller (Darling’s), Midcoast – Sarah Woodman (Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine), Kennebec Valley – Martin Meader (New Balance), Central ME – Aaron Ouellette (Daddy O’s)
