Cushing Community School held its annual Fine Arts Night to a packed house earlier this month. Students were able to showcase both their musical abilities and their artistic talent.

Led by music teacher Anna-Marlies Myers, the musical portion of the evening featured kindergarten and first grade songs such as "Sammy the Salmon" by Brent Holmes and "Rattlin' Bog," an Irish folk song.

Songs in second grade included "Let's Go Fly a Kite" by Richard and Robert Sherman and "Lazy Coconut Tree" by Douglas Coombes and John Edwards.

Songs in third grade included "Molly Malone," an Irish folk song, and "Alouette," a French folk song, while fourth-graders performed the songs "It's Raining" and "Old MacDonald" on recorders. They also sang "Rockin' Robin" by Jimmie Thomas, "What a Wonderful World" by George Weiss and Bob Thiele, and more.

For the finale, all students sang "The Garden Song" by David Mallet and "The ABCs of Cushing."

The art portion of the evening was made possible by art teacher Janelle Eddy. She displayed work by all students in kindergarten through fourth grade in a gallery set up in the gymnasium.
