A juried show of contemporary art is featured on the walls of Maine Fiberarts’ gallery through Sept. 3. A reception will be held Sunday, July 10, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Maine Fiberarts, 13 Main St. Many of the artists will be on hand to answer questions about their techniques, intentions and inspirations.

Artists, including a couple from the Midcoast, are showing state-of-the-art ideas in hooked work, woven tapestry, knitted wire, collaged fabric, paper assemblage, handwoven rugs, mixed media, needlepoint tapestry, felted work and embroidery. Members of Maine Fiberarts were encouraged to send images of newly-completed work for this first exhibition of the season.

Midcoast artists with work in the “Innovations: Contemporary Art” show include Katharine Cobey of Cushing and Stephanie Crossman of Vinalhaven. Gallery hours are Wednesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit mainefiberarts.org or call 721-0678.
