Liza Gardner Walsh will sign copies of her latest “Fairy House” book Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jane Alden, 6 Main St./Route 1.

“Fairy Houses All Year: A Four-Season Handbook” from Down East Books, an imprint of Globe Pequot, is a good tool for parents, grandparents, teachers and others who want to encourage kids to get off the couch and out into nature all year round. Written in an engaging, never condescending, style, it celebrates the year-round pleasures of fairy house building.

Through the use of seasonal materials, kids and families can engage in this natural and creative endeavor, no matter the weather. “Fairy Houses All Year” is filled with color photos, snippets of fairy lore, helpful advice and instructions and lots of information about nature.

Walsh has worked as a pre-school teacher, children’s librarian, high school English teacher, writing tutor and museum educator; and she holds an MFA in Writing from Vermont College. She lives with her family in Camden. For more information about the event, call 230-1222.
