The much anticipated arrival of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial "The Moving Wall" was fulfilled on schedule at 9 a.m. May 26.
Flanked by more than 200 motorcycles and a variety of law enforcement vehicles, the truck carrying the memorial wall made its way through downtown Thomaston, being welcomed by many onlookers along the way to its final destination — Knox Museum.
The Moving Wall, once constructed, will stand 252 feet long and 6 feet tall, displaying the names of 58,228 Americans who lost their lives in Vietnam including 343 from Maine.
Visiting hours will be 24 hours per day and free shuttle service will depart from two locations approximately every 30 minutes: behind Flagship Cinema on Route 1 and behind the business block in downtown Thomaston.
For more information visit Knox Museum's Facebook page, call the museum at 354-8062, or email info@knoxmuseum.org.
