From Jackie Cooper

I have a special art request. In fourth-grade they will be making a rag rug as part of their Stories project with the Farnsworth Art Museum. They are in need of your old clean pillowcases, sheets, or T-shirts. Don't worry about any rips or holes, they can use it. It would be wonderful if every family could be represented in our weaving for Hope Elementary School. Think how special it would be. I can think of a few headlines for the schools Hawk's eye. Weaving is hip, rags to riches, from old to new, trash to treasure, Hope is really hip or collaboration of caring. You get the idea. Please donate!

Students vs. Staff basketball game

The 10th annual Student vs. Staff basketball game held Feb. 2  was a lot of fun! The Students Council would like to thank all of the staff and students who played in the game. Grades six, seven and eight had a great time. Thanks to Mrs. Fagonde, Mrs. Cooper, Mr. Holbrook, S. Smith, Mr. Dietter, Mr. Payson, Coach Ford, Coach Max and Ms. Soule for playing in the game. Mr. Pearse was a great referee. Mr. Brown and Ms. Gray were awesome student coaches. Mr. Grown and Ms. Gray were awesome Adult coaches. We'd also like to give a big congratulations to Mrs. Benner for running the scorer clock. Mrs. Southworth won halftime raffle for the second time. The final score was students 61 and staff 48. Congratulations to Council President & Basketball committee.

We'd also like to give a thank you to Mrs. Williams for helping in the kitchen.

Aldermere Achievers

Congratulations to Hope Students Sydney G. and Elizabeth E. for being part of the Aldermere Achievers group that won the Premiere Breeder Award in November at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Kentucky. Students were recognized this past week at the State House for their fundraising efforts to attend the show.

Fourth Grade

Fourth-grade students learned about geometry by working with two local quilters. Wendy Eaton and her mother Ruthie Winchenbach. The quilt will be auctioned off for charity after it is displayed at the Farnsworth.
