Rock City Café, 316 Main St., present homegrown music Friday and Saturday nights, Jan. 15 and 16, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Miners Creek Bluegrass Band will play Friday. The rocky coast of Maine and bluegrass music are not frequently found in the same sentence, but they merge in Miners Creek Bluegrass Band, whose sound originates from the bluegrass tradition, but also draws from the folk revival of the 1960s, Latin chords and rhythms, classic rock, Appalachian and old timey tunes — with a sprinkling of jug band.
Miners Creek is at its core is a family band, consisting of songwriting mother/daughter duo Resa and Emily Randolph and husband/dad/banjo player Whitney Randolph. Peter Proeller joins in on claw hammer banjo.
On Saturday, Rock City will play host to Blind Albert and Friends. Local blues dynamo Vince Gabriel will take the stage with some special guests for a magical evening of blues.
Rock City’s menu is available until closing. For more information on these and other events happening at the coffeebar/cafe, call 594-4123 or find it on Facebook.
