Lincolnville Community Library, 208 Main St., hosts its first presentation of winter 2016 with a talk by children's author Kristen Byrer and a concert by local folk duo Castlebay Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10, and proceeds benefit the library.

Byrer and her husband, Jon, are an author/illustrator team. They live in Jackson with their new baby and two fun-loving dogs. Kristen is a children’s librarian and author. She loves to read and write books for kids. Her works include The Adventures of Bluedoe and A Tail for All Seasons. She combines fun rhyming stories with her love of animals and nature. Jon is an artist and illustrator. He uses ink and watercolors to create the art for this series.

Castlebay has been musically weaving together the heritage of New England and the Celtic lands since 1987. Members Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee have loved and researched traditional music for most of their lives, and they blend history, legend and experience into their personable performance style. Their concerts feature poignant ballads sung in Lane’s ethereal soprano and Gosbee’s rich baritone interspersed with joyous dance tunes played on Celtic harp, guitar, fiddle, and tin whistle.
