Quarry Hill has recently hired two experienced dieticians.

Ann Parent, RD, has shifted into the newly created position of clinical dietitian. She focuses on preparing evidence-based nutrition-care programs for residents of Quarry Hill’s short- and long-term nursing-care center. She also counsels residents seeking help with nutrition-related issues.

Parent has been a member of the Midcoast health care community since 1980, having worked at the former Camden Healthcare Center, Pen Bay Medical Center, Quarry Hill and the Knox Center for Long Term Care. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at Iowa State University and a master’s in nutritional sciences at the University of Minnesota and qualified as a registered dietitian in 1980. She currently resides in Warren.

Amy Mayes, RD, of Camden, is bringing her combined talents in management and nutrition to Quarry Hill in another newly formed Dining Services role. As supervisor for all five dining rooms at Quarry Hill, she trains, schedules, and supervises servers and dining assistants and ensures compliance with food-safety regulations.Mayes  also communicates with residents to make sure the dining program remains responsive to their needs and expectations.

Mayes was director of dietary, housekeeping and laundry operations at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan, Mich., for 12 years before joining Quarry Hill. She holds a bachelor’s degree in dietetics and nutrition science from Michigan State University and a master’s in organization management from Spring Arbor University in Michigan. She became a registered dietitian in 1998.
