With the Legislature set to reconvene in January, Democratic Sen. Dave Miramant of Camden reminds local schools and students about the Senate honorary page program at the State House.

The daylong program gives students a unique opportunity not only to observe the state's legislative process, but to be a part of it. All students from third grade through high school are encouraged to participate.

“It can be a great experience for students to see the Legislature at work firsthand,” said Sen. Miramant. “It is important we engage our youth since they are our future leaders.”

Honorary pages help deliver messages, distribute documents within the Senate chamber, interact with the senators and take part in a real-world, interactive legislative learning experience. The Legislature began its second session Jan. 6 and is expected to run through April 2016. Honorary pages are needed throughout the session, so scheduling is flexible.
