Penobscot Theatre Company will hold auditions for its upcoming production of “Rock of Ages” Saturday, Jan. 9, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Bangor Opera House, 131 Main St. Those interested in auditioning should email casting@penobscottheatre.org with "Rock of Ages" in the subject line.
The company is looking to cast the following roles — Franz, Hertz, Joey, Constance, Mayor and Ja' Keith, as well as ensemble parts. Adult AEA and non-AEA actors, both new and returning to Penobscot Theatre Company, are encouraged to attend. All roles are paid, and housing is available as needed.
Those who wish to audition should prepare 32 bars of a rock ballad. Actors should bring a picture, resume and sheet music to their audition; an accompanist will be provided. Performers also may be asked to learn a short dance combination, so dress appropriately.
Michele Colvin is directing and choreographing “Rock of Ages.” Colvin's credits at Penobscot Theatre Company include “Honky Tonk Angels,” “The Wizard of Oz” and “Ring of Fire.” Rehearsals for the production will begin on May 10; and performances will run from June 9 to July 3.
Penobscot Theatre Company will hold its regular unified auditions in February and its standard general open call in May, dates to be announced. For more information about the company, visit penobscottheatre.org.
