Joseph M. Pratt has been promoted to president of Bar Harbor Trust Services, a subsidiary of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust. Pratt  maintains offices in both Bangor and Ellsworth, leading a team of financial professionals who provide a full complement of services to high net worth individuals and nonprofits, including internally designed investment portfolios.

Since 2004 Pratt has been the managing director of Bar Harbor Trust Services. He joined Bar Harbor Trust Services in 2000. Pratt is a graduate of Cannon Trust School and is currently working toward his Certified Financial Planner designation.

For the past 10 years he has been leading a team of 15 sales and service professionals at Bar Harbor Trust Services. This entails overseeing the daily administrative, investment, sales, operations and compliance functions of the staff as they deliver services to customers throughout the bank's network of 15 branches, including one in Rockland. Before joining Bar Harbor Trust Services, Pratt was a senior trust officer at Peoples Heritage Trust & Investment Group, a trust officer with Key Trust Co. of Maine; beginning his career in financial services as a personal financial planner with American Express Financial Advisors.

A Maine native, he is a graduate of Bangor High School, earning his bachelor's degree from the University of Maine at Orono. In 1986 he entered the Air Force as a commissioned 2nd lieutenant and left active duty in 1992 as a captain, serving in the Air Force Reserves until 2005.

Pratt is very active in the community, currently serving as board vice chair for the United Way of Eastern Maine, a trustee of Bangor Public Library, and a board member of Bangor Breakfast Rotary Charities. He was the founding president of the Maine Planned Giving Council, and previously served on the board and as treasurer of the Maine Philanthropy Center, as well as the Bangor YMCA.

In his spare time, he enjoys fly fishing and white water canoeing. He currently resides in Bangor with his wife, Becky. They have two adult daughters.
