When Hannaford Supermarkets launched its 2015 community giving program “Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger” I doubt they knew they had an angel named Denise working the register at their store in Camden.

Denise, who lives in Lincolnville, has worked for Hannaford for almost 15 years and enjoys helping others in many ways. Selling $10 boxes full of food that go to the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry is one way and she is a champion and our special angel.

To date, she has an in-store record of more than 70 boxes sold in one day. All associates work hard and compete to ensure that Camden Hannaford meets or exceeds its store goal of 2,000 boxes. So far, with 1,991 sold as of Dec. 15 they are 120 boxes over this time last year and are well on the way to set a new record.

These boxes are picked up daily and distributed by The Camden Area Christian Food Pantry to serve the hungry in the eight town service area — Camden, Rockport, Lincolnville, Hope, Appleton, Union, Searsmont and Washington.

The pantry and its clients thank Hannaford Supermarkets, Denise, and all of the Hannaford associates for helping to fight hunger in this special way that gives so many the opportunity to share through giving.
