The John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John St., is introducing something new this year. In the past few years several long-term members were unable to attend the Christmas Eve service at the church because of darkness, and others had commitments to be with visiting family or had traveled to celebrate Christmas out of town.

In an attempt to include those folks in this important celebration of the birth of Jesus, the church will observe Christmas Dec. 20 at 1:30  p.m.

The public, individuals or groups, is invited to join in the service planned to be a family time similar to a traditional Christmas Eve service. The sanctuary will be filled with symbols of Christmas, familiar scripture and songs, plus stories and candlelight.

The church is fully handicapped-accessible. Call the church at 236-4829 with any questions.
