The Maine Lobster Festival’s directors presented a check for $1,500 to Jane Bennett, president of the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry, at the Festival Board of Directors’ November meeting.

Many community members and families living in Midcoast Maine are affected by hunger and food insecurity every day. The Camden Area Christian Food Pantry is a group of local Christian churches providing food to anyone in need in the Camden area. These churches include St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, First Congregational Church, Chestnut Street Baptist Church, and John Street United Methodist Church, all of Camden.

The food pantry serves approximately 100 community members per week throughout Camden, Rockport, Lincolnville, Hope, Appleton, Union, Washington and Searsmont. Now in its 15th year of service, the food pantry operates thanks to the support of 70 volunteers, donations of food from the community and funding provided by individuals, businesses, civic organizations, schools, and churches.
