Lincoln County Sheriff's Office has announced the following local incident:

Nov. 26

An accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Troy A. Giroux, 46, of Wiscasset, and Richard M. Genthner, 32, of Waldoboro. Both vehicles were traveling north when Genthner slowed his 2012 GMC Acadia down to observe a vehicle on the shoulder of the road. Giroux, operating his 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, was also distracted by the vehicle on the shoulder and did not see Genthner slow down, and as a result struck his vehicle from behind. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.

An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until found guilty at criminal proceedings.
