The Camden-Rockport Middle School eighth-grade Japan Exchange is getting closer to raising the entire cost of travel of $30,000.

The group of 10 students will be traveling to Japan in April and have been working hard since the summer to raise the funds. The groups next event is a silent auction with items generously donated by local businesses. There will be 10 items up for bid, including a $200 gift certificate to the YMCA, an alignment package valued at $150 donated by Don Foshey's Discount Tire, and a Taylor Limited Edition 514ce Koa acoustic guitar valued at $2,000, which was generously donated by Manny's & Karyls.

The bidding will start at the CRMS holiday chorus concert at the Strom Dec. 8, followed by parent/teacher conferences on the 10th & 11th and public bidding in Rockport at the Holiday by the Harbor celebration on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 3 to 7 p.m. Final bidding will be open on Sunday, Dec. 13 in Reny's Plaza in front of K2 Music between 1 and 3 p.m.
