The public is invited to relax this holiday weekend with the Old Time Music Players of Maine, which will host a free old-time music jam Saturday, Nov. 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Belfast, 37 Miller St.

Old-time musicians are invited to drop by and play some tunes. There will be playing and listening to old-time music played in one large group, followed by smaller ensemble sessions. A short conversation will take place about next year’s Old Time Music of Maine weekend.

Old Time Music Players of Maine celebrates American string band music and the cultures that brought those traditions here. OTMPM originated one sunny afternoon while a group of locals were playing Irish music during a fiber festival on the Maine coast. During a tuning break, the conversation started up around bringing together musicians of every level to learn, share and play old-time music.
