Atlantic Ballet Company will bring the beloved story of the “Nutcracker” to the downtown Camden Opera House Friday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5 and 6, at 3 p.m. Directed by Michele and Heather Cox, ABC's family-length holiday production is a highlight of the Christmas-by-the-Sea festivities.
Featured in this spectacular production is Elisha Nilsen, performing the lead role of the Nutcracker Prince. A 19-year-old professional dancer, Nilsen received his training at both the School of American Ballet and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School of the American Ballet Theatre in New York City. He will be partnering young Clara, danced by Rockport's Morgan Knauer; the elegant Sugar Plum Fairy, performed by Camden's Jane Cummings; and the Russian dancer, Madalina Lodge of Lincolnville. Dancers in ABC's “Nutcracker” also travel from Cushing, Sheepscot, Thomaston, Belfast, Morrill and Liberty.
Accompanied by the sparkling music of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, more than 50 professional and student dancers who train at P2P Dance Centers in Camden, Belfast and Waldoboro will join Nilsen in a grand celebration of this holiday production.
Advance tickets are available at HAV II, Camden; Grasshopper Shop, Rockland; Opera House Video, Belfast; and Townline Video, Warren; they also will be sold, as available, at the door. Ticket prices are $18; $14 for senior citizens and those younger than 13.
