Wednesday, May 6, from 5:15 to 7:30 p.m. The Midcoast Chapter of Maine Women’s Network meets at Cappy's Chowder House. The group will host Carrie E. Levine, a certified nurse midwife who runs Whole Woman Health, a holistic health care practice that serves women in the Midcoast. Whole Woman Health, based in Newcastle, is designed to treat women who are seeking lifestyle, alternative and functional medical care.

Busy women often juggle a number of different responsibilities, from building a career, raising children, managing the family home and finances, taking care of a parent — all while trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. These roles can be stressful at times. Chronic stress can have a deleterious effect on the adrenal glands and hence, the entire body. This talk will deepen participants' understanding of the physiologic effects of stress and compel them to find ways to manage it.

Before Levine started Whole Woman Health, she practiced gynecology at the Women to Women Healthcare Clinic from 2006 -2014. Prior to that, she practiced full-scope midwifery at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. For more than 15 years, she has been working with her clients to identify personal health goals and then break those goals down into attainable steps. She looks for the underlying causes of illness, seeking to connect the dots of seemingly unrelated symptoms and emotions. By supporting women in setting and achieving their own health goals, Levine helps her patients thrive emotionally, spiritually and physically.

The cost of the dinner, which includes full buffet and dessert following the presentation, is $25 for members and $30 for guests of members and/or non-members. Guests and non-members are always welcome and there is plenty of time for networking and discussion.
