Young student-athletes can be found sticking to it on fields around the Midcoast as the Busline League middle school field hockey season has swung in.

The eight-game regular-season schedule will be followed by the single-elimination playoffs in mid-October.

As usual, the five-team league includes Boothbay Elementary School, Camden-Rockport Middle School, Great Salt Bay of Damariscotta, Oceanside Middle School of Thomaston/Rockland and Troy Howard Middle School of Belfast.

Teams play each other twice during the regular season.

Troy Howard 6, Camden-Rockport 2

At Belfast Sept. 17, the Lions roared to a four-goal win over the Schooners.

Julianne Smith scored two goals for the hosts, while Kayla Payson, Hannah Sanderson, Gia Davila and Emily Woods scored one. For Camden-Rockport, McKenzie Power and Sadie Mills banged the back of the cage.

Brooke Richards played in goal for the Lions and Tatum Dowd in the cage for the Schooners.

Troy Howard 4, Oceanside 0

At Rockland Sept. 15, the Lions blanked the host Mariners.

Cassie Clark scored two goals for Troy Howard, while Kayci Faulkingham and Amy Gaiero also scored for the visitors.

Boothbay 3, Troy Howard 2

At Boothbay Sept. 10, the Wildcats nipped the Lions by one goal.

Gia Davila and Kayci Faulkingham scored for Troy Howard.
