Midcoast high school cross-country runners more than held their own during a regular-season meet hosted by Belfast Area High School on Friday afternoon, Sept. 12 at Troy Howard Middle School.

The event was a prelude of sorts to the large upcoming races at the venue, which will include the Festival of Champions and regional and state meets.

On Friday, in near perfect late-summer weather conditions, the Camden Hills boys and Morse of Bath girls finished first for teams, while Windjammer Emily Kessel raced to first in the girls race.

The girls team score were: Morse 29, Camden Hills 36, Edward Little of Auburn 122, Oceanside of Rockland/Thomaston 131, Lincoln Academy of Newcastle 133, Erskine Academy of South China 135, Belfast 155 and Medomak Valley of Waldoboro 174.

The boys team scores were: Camden Hills 64, Belfast 67, Morse 73, Lincoln Academy 96, Erskine Academy 103, Edward Little 129, Medomak Valley 160 and Oceanside no score.
