Patricia Elizabeth Knight passed away Sept. 8, 2014, at Brentwood Nursing Facility in Yarmouth with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Portland Aug. 13, 1943. She was a daughter of the late Ludger and Geraldine (Pelletier) Vaillancourt.

She worked 29 years at Fairchild Semiconductor, which later became National Semiconductor. She attended schools in Limerick and graduated from Portland Adult Education in 1975. She later graduated with honors from Southern Maine Technical College in 2000, with a degree in culinary arts. After graduation she was employed at Park Danforth and later she worked for Lutheran Social Services of New England until her retirement in 2007, because of her health.

Pat and Don were married Aug. 14, 1971, at St. John the Evangelist Church in South Portland by Monsignor Vincent Tatarczuk. She was an Eucharistic Minister at St. John's Church and was a member of the women's council there. Later she and her husband moved to 425 Broadway and attended Holy Cross Church. She was a devoted Catholic and was proud of her French Heritage. Patricia and her husband volunteered many years for the Salvation Army Christmas Program, Portland Regional Opportunity Program, and were volunteers for the Aids Project Auction and were former soup kitchen volunteers.

Patty was known for her beautiful smile and pleasant personality. She had a beautiful singing voice and took voice lessons as child. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, crafting, volunteering, and traveling. Her three grandsons were the light of her life.

In addition to her parents she is predeceased by a brother Kenneth Vaillancourt, and a sister Deborah Davis.

Survivors include her beloved family: her husband Donald of Portland; two daughters Ernestine Marie Atkins of Buxton and Barbara Ann Chandler of Woodsville, N.H.; her three grandsons were the light of her life Joseph George Auger III, Christopher Donald Auger, and Charles Philander Chandler IV; great-granddaughter Payton Elizabeth Auger; five sisters Margaret and her husband Dick Wilmot, Donna and husband Bill Farnham, Theresa Garnett, Mary Hicks, and Jean Carver; two brothers Allen Vaillancourt and his wife Barbara and Timothy Vaillancourt and his wife Patricia; a special niece, Ilene L. Knight and many other nieces and nephews. Other survivors are sisters in-law Arlene Vaillancourt and Ruth Zrioka and her husband Bill.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m. at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home 660 Brighton Avenue Portland. Burial in Brooklawn Memorial Park will be private.
