Freckles and her brother, Tigger, are looking for a fur-ever home together. Freckles is 8 to 10 years old, and Tigger 5 or 6. Don’t be thinking they’re slowpokes, though. They are both full of get-up-and-go, and taking walks is high on their list of Very Good Things To Do. In another way they are total opposites: Freckles loves people, but Tigger needs a few moments to warm up. And Tigger likes other dogs, but Freckles likes only her brother. Some Jack Russells love to jump and bounce around, but these two usually keep their paws on the ground. The adoption fee for pair is $100. Just think of the double fun you’ll have, and the double love and joy they’ll bring into your house.

Our drop-dead gorgeous Mikey is a sweet cat who was getting picked on by the other cats in his home. This handsome guy was born with only one eye, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit. He’s pretty laid back, and he may need a minute or two to let you into his life. But once he’s over that hurdle, he’s ready to be your Best Friend For Life (BFFL, if we must.) Mikey qualifies for our Senior Adoption Program: If his new BFFL is older than the age of 50, there is no adoption fee since he is older than 7 years old.

Don’t forget to check for cats or kittens up for adoption at our good friend Loyal Biscuit in Belfast. We can’t tell you how much we value and appreciate Loyal Biscuit for helping us find homes for the many cats and kittens that come to PAWS. The adoption process up there is very simple, and more than likely you can take your bundle of fluff home that same day.

On our (perennial) Wish List: Non-clumping cat litter, canned cat food, paper towels, towels, stamps and gift cards to Walmart, Hannaford and Home Depot. We and our animals say thank you, as always, for your kindness and generosity. We couldn’t do it without you.

It seems as though the summer is barely over, but the days are getting shorter and there is a nip in the night air, so make sure your four-leggers are home before dark and fed and nestled in a warm bed. Nothing warmer, by the way, than a fur person curled up at the foot of your bed to keep your feet and your heart warm. Haven’t had that experience? We’re here to help. Stop by the shelter at 146 Camden St. in Rockport and we’ll help you find the furry love of your life. We’re open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, our phone number is (207) 236-8702 and our website at is never closed! And thank you, as always, for your caring and support.
