The Medomak Valley and Oceanside high school cross-country squads began their new seasons on the run on Friday afternoon, Sept. 5 in a meet hosted by the Panthers.

The top Midcoast finishers included Oceanside's Riley Simmons, who was third in the girls race, and Oceanside's Nick Mahar, who was fourth in the boys event.

Boothbay Region secured team firsts in both races.

The girls team scores were: Boothbay Region 32, Lincoln Academy of Newcastle 47, Medomak Valley 58, Oceanside 78 and Richmond no score.

The boys team scores were: Boothbay Region 20, Lincoln Academy 49, Medomak Valley 69 and Oceanside and Richmond no score.
