It is has been no secret over the past few seasons that the Camden Hills girls soccer team has been among the top squads in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B ranks, or perhaps in all of Class B, as the Windjammers have sailed into the postseason more often than not.

Their dominance was reaffirmed Saturday, Sept. 6 as the visiting Windjammers scored early and often en route to a 9-0 win over the host Lions.

Leading the potent Windjammer offense were Emma Gutheinz (3 goals, 2 assists), Brynn Anderson (2 goals, 2 assists), Charlotte Messer (2 goals, assist), Abigail Matlack (goal), Brynne Wrona (goal), Claire Pierce (assist) and Hannah Wincklhofer (assist).

Camden Hills held a 21-7 edge in shots and a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks. Rachel Pease and Julia Holt combined to make seven saves in goal for the Windjammers, while Cori Shooter turned away 11 shots for the Lions.

Gutheinz logged a hat trick in the first half on two assists from Anderson and another from Johnson, while Messer scored her two goals 30 seconds apart in the second half.
