Eighty minutes into the regular season for the Oceanside and Medomak Valley boys soccer teams, and both squads needed extra time if they hoped to determine a winner on Friday, Sept. 5.

After the Mariners struck first in the first half and the Panthers responded with an equalizer late in the second, the sides went scoreless through two five-minute overtimes and were forced to settle for a 1-1 season-opening draw.
