Two rare white lobsters were caught by two different fishermen on Sept. 4.

Joe Bates caught one white lobster and a rare orange lobster in Rockland. The other white lobster was caught by Bert Philbrick in Owls Head.

The three rare crustaceans, currently in Owls Head, will soon be moved to the Maine State Aquarium in Boothbay Harbor, according to Alexandra Knight, of Owls Head Lobster.

"Someone caught a blue lobster that was in the paper, but these are cooler," said Knight. "I've been here for 12 years and have never seen one."

Recognizing their extreme rarity, Knight contacted the aquarium to give the lobsters a home. According to Wikipedia, only one in 30 million lobsters is orange, and only one in 100 million lobsters is albino.
