The fourth annual Rockland Yacht Club/Rockland Community Sailing Youth Scholarship Keelboat Race set sail on Thursday, Aug. 14, with 13 youth sailors and many volunteers on hand to take part.

Ten boats took to the water in the event, which featured three races and raised more than $500 for youth sailing scholarships at RCS.

The event has proven successful in recent years on many levels, particularly last year's event, which earned RCS the 2013 Gulf of Maine Ocean Racing Association (GMORA) Spirit Award in November, given to an up-and-coming sailing program.

The scores of Thursday's three races were combined, with the lowest score winning the event.

The weather was a clear, sunny 68 degrees with southerly winds reaching 8-12 knots, though the water calmed later in the day.

Results from the race, with boat name and those aboard the vessel listed (youth sailors first), were: 1, Rave-On/Raven class, Joshua Jackomino, Chris Nelson, Wiley Todd, Wes Todd and George Emery, 3; 2, Chaise Lounge/J-80, Zach Jackson, Jesse Henry, Jeff Dinse and Erica Crane, 8; 3, Gosling/Ostkust 25, Nadie King, Margaret Richmond and John Blodgett, 9; 4, Elvis Tuna/Etchells 30, Isabel Crane, David Jones and Mark Dierckes, 10; 5, RCS Sonar 23, Hannah Chase, Louisa Crane and Devon Gordon, 16; 6, Dauntless/Knutson 35, Ben MacWilliams, Dick Rapalyea, David Leon and KC Heyniger, 17; 7, Teal/Tripp-Lentsch 29, Takuma Steinberger, Joe Steinberger and Jake Joslin, 21; 8, Halcyon/O'Day 28, Nick Stuart, Mike Kerzee, Caroline Knight and Richard Chalmers, 26; 9, Preamble/Island Packet 37, Parker Stuart, Bob White, George Pearlman and Michael O'Neil, 27; and 10, Sagitta/King Cruiser, Marley O'Neil, Andy Bird and Dale Young, 28.
