Aldersgate United Methodist Church, across from Chickawaukie on Route 17, will host an afternoon of jazz music with a chicken barbeque Sunday, Aug. 24, beginning 4 p.m. Events will be outside, weather permitting.
The menu will include BBQ chicken, corn on the cob, coleslaw, rolls and beverages, with desserts. Cost of the meal is $8; the concert is free. The community is welcome to attend one or both.
Breakers Jazz, based in Rockland, celebrating its fifth season as the sister organization of Bay Winds North Wind Ensemble, includes members from the greater Midcoast area. The 17-member group has performed at the Samoset Resort, Farnsworth Art Museum, Spruce Point Inn, Maine Lobster Festival and the Boothbay Opera House, as well as throughout the Midcoast.
Bay Winds and Breakers Jazz are pleased to call Aldersgate United Methodist Church their home base. Both ensembles are under the musical direction of Marlene Hall.
