Sweet Tree Arts will host the eighth annual Hope Children’s Festival Saturday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the arts center, in the village at 4 Church St. Rain date is Aug. 30.

Originally created and supported by Andrew Stewart and the Hope General Store eight years ago, the Hope Children’s Festival is an annual event celebrating story, the arts, family and community. Each year, a Maine author is invited to host the event; this year, Liza Gardner Walsh will share her passion for fairies and treasure hunting.

There will be a variety of activities, face painting, creative stations and pirate and fairy-inspired activities for children and families, along with live sing-along music and dancing with Annie Laurita, raffles and presentations by Barefoot books and Midcoast Music Together. There also will be a bit of Renaissance flare to the event, as activities will be offered by children for children around the Renaissance theme, thanks to young Raelin Callahan.

All families are welcome to enjoy the festival. Suggested donation is $5 per family, with all proceeds going towards the scholarship fund for Sweet Tree Arts’ afterschool programming.
