The public is invited to a reception for Nancy Glassman Sunday, Aug. 17, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Community Building located at 18 Searsmont Road/Route 173 in Lincolnville Center. Pianist Clayton Clemetson and fiddler Audrey Buddington will entertain and refreshments will be served. All are welcome.
Glassman, a long-time Lincolnville resident and an award-winning artist, has had solo shows of her watercolor and oil paintings at the Caldbeck Gallery in Rockland, the State House in Augusta and the Center of Maine Contemporary Art in Rockport. She has taught Art for 25 years at the Farnsworth Art Museum and for the Maine Arts Commission. Her work celebrates life through shapes and color relationships; and plays with pattern and rhythm, to make order out of chaos.
The Glassman exhibition is the final show of the newly established Summer Community Art Series held in the recently renovated Community Building. The United Christian Church, sponsors of the event, is pleased with the wonderful support for this new program that featured portrait artist Sara Gaga, lithographer Tim Higbee and pop artist Noah Magro. Plans for next summer's series are already in the works.
The exhibition can be viewed through Sept. 14 on Sunday mornings; Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; or by chance or appointment. For more information, call 785-3521.
