The United Christian Church, 30 Searsmont Road/Route 173, invites the public to the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday, Aug. 17, for a special presentation by sundancer Tammy Harmon. Organist Marcia Anderson will accompany the Wing and a Prayer Choir, which will provide special music for the service.

Harmon, who is of Mi'kmaw, Lebanese and French heritage, has a degree in health care administration and is a Patient Advocate for Maine General Medical Center in Augusta. She also is a singer, drummaker, sundancer and teacher of sundance spirituality. In her presentation at the UCC, Harmon will speak about the tradition of the sweat lodge and its integral role in the sundancer manner of prayer. She also will offer traditional sundance songs.

The United Christian Church was built in 1821 and is on the National Registry of Historic Places. It has its original boxed pews, leaded glass windows, lower and upper balconies, and it is fully handicapped accessible.
