Singer/songwriter and actress Crystal Bowersox will bring her rich amalgam of blues, country, folk and rock to the Strand Theatre Saturday, Aug. 16, at 7:30 p.m. Singer/songwriter, pianist and guitarist Seth Glier will open the show at the Strand, 345 Main St.

The 2010 “American Idol” runner-up, Bowersox is considered one of the most dynamic young voices in music today. She has performed alongside a wide spectrum of musicians, from Harry Connick Jr., Joe Cocker and Alanis Morrisette to Michael Franti, John Popper and BB King. Bowersox will be playing Patsy Cline in the upcoming Broadway production of “Always, Patsy Cline.” She has recorded two albums.

Despite his relatively young age, Massachusetts-based Glier is a seasoned troubadour. Averaging more than 250 live performances annually, Glier has gone from opening act to headlining his own shows and playing major folk festivals. He has shared the stage with artists as diverse as James Taylor, Ani DiFranco, Martin Sexton, Emmylou Harris and Ryan Adams; and has quickly become known for his passionate live sets. His music has caught the ears of fans, industry and critics alike, leading to a Grammy nomination for his sophomore record, “The Next Right Thing.”

Tickets are $17.50, general admission. To buy tickets, or for more information about all upcoming live concerts, films, HD broadcasts and events at the Strand, visit; call 594-0070, ext. 3; or email
