The Velvet Lounge music series of Rock City Café, 316 Main St., will host Pandefan Friday, Aug. 8, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Pandafan is an indie-folk trio based in the Long Island/metro area, performing original music inspired by the haunting harmonies of bands like Fleet Foxes and the creative melodic work of bands like The Decemberists. Pandafan pools influences ranging from the Carter Family to Pink Floyd, merging them into something fresh and unique. This band knows plenty about the traditions of folk music, but is young enough to be free of the “rules” of the genre. A successful Kickstarter campaign led to the release of the band’s self-titled debut album; Pandafan is currently recording its second studio album.

Rock City’s lunch service extends until closing on music nights. For more information on this and other events happening at the coffeebar/cafe, call 594-4123 or find it on Facebook.
