Several events for the entire family are planned for the month of August at Vose Library, 392 Common Road, Union. All events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.

On Thursday, Aug. 7, at 2 p.m. there will be a tech workshop. Participants are asked to bring questions and their devices to be able to go hands-on with ebooks, Facebook, etc. The topics will be chosen by the participants.

On Saturday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. there will be a Teddy Bear Picnic. The picnic includes games, activities and snacks. Please bring a teddy bear.

A Kitchen Broom Making Class will be held Monday, Aug. 18, at 6:30 p.m.

Karen Koch will give a teach participants how to make a kitchen broom. Koch learned traditional Appalachian-style broom making at the Augusta Heritage Center at Davis Elkins College in Elkins, W.V. from Carlson Tuttle. This workshops is limited to six participants. Call 785-4733 to register. There is a $15 fee and proceeds benefit the library.

On Saturday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. will be the summer reading program finale with a visit from Union Fire and Ambulance crews and vehicles. Get to know the local folks who are here to help, and learn about their vehicles and equipment.

There will also be the summer reading prizes and activities and the bicycle drawing is at 3 p.m. Program is sponsored by Union Masons.

The library will be closed Saturday, Aug. 30 so volunteers may enjoy the Labor Day weekend holiday.
