Landing Gallery, 8 Elm St., will open “Color Vision,” a solo exhibition of 54 new paintings by Irma Cerese, with a reception for the artist Friday, Aug. 1, during the 5 to 8 p.m. First Friday Art Walk. The show will continue to Sept. 28.

The landscape paintings in this exhibit border on the abstract. Cerese’s work has the ability to be seen simultaneously as both representational and nonfigurative, achieving a fine balance between realism and abstraction with color the primary focus.

Cerese received her formal training at the Academy of Art and the School of the Art Institute, both in Chicago, Ill. Her paintings are in numerous private, corporate and institutional collections in the United States and Europe. This will be her 11th solo show in Rockland.

Landing Gallery hours are Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. For more information, call 594-4544 or visit
